The Artas ROBOT

The Artas may be used in conjunction with the Loria FUE Procedure. This depends on whether the Patient requests the Artas. Dr Loria’s trained Surgical Team will use the Loria FUE Hair Transplant Technique but can be used exclusively or in combination with the Artas Robot. Both treatments are state-of-the-art modalities and provide exceptional patient results.

The Loria FUE Procedure Advantages

R
The Loria FUE Follicular unit or Graft extraction technique minimizes any and all markings (microscopic scars) on the recipient and donor areas. The objective is to form microscopic or near invisible scars. As compared to the strip method and other traditional hair transplant techniques, the Loria FUE Procedure is advanced.
R
Provides greater precision in follicular unit extraction with rapid ‘non-crush’ graft insertion. Non-crush graft or follicular unit injuries using specialized instrumentation for graft placement. A critical factor for hair graft protection and survival.
R
Rapid insertion time for grafts is very important, and this limits the hours of time the grafts are ‘out of the body’… the less time the better.
R
Cooling method with monitored refrigeration (not just ‘ice blocks’) is vital for hair follicle preservation.
R
Hepa Air Filtration is in every treatment room and is important to eliminate bacteria and airborne particles from contaminating the grafts and prevent infection.
R

Adjunct therapy:

  • PRP, or Platelet Rich Plasma, will be considered in the planning of the Hair Restoration procedure. There is primarily anecdotal (hearsay information) data supporting its use. Dr Loria is always cautious in implementing treatments that are of questionable value, so continued observation and strong data will be needed to make this PRP treatment part of our standard protocol.
  • Finasteride is a medication that protects the existing hair and can ‘revive’ some hairs that are in their dying cycle (miniaturized follicles/hairs). This is added to the Hair Transplant protocol to assist in hair growth and protection.
  • Minoxidil is a medication that provides increased circulatory support in addition to having indirect effects on stimulating hair to grow, to a minimal degree. This is added to the Hair Transplant protocol to assist in hair growth and protection.
  • Laser Cap is an FDA Medically cleared device that may help with stimulating existing hairs to grow, especially those in their dying cycle (miniaturized follicles/hairs).

Dr Loria & Staff provide phone, video, and In-Office consultations

to provide the information for Patients. Why phone and video consultations? This is due to patients flying from all over the United States and other countries to have these exclusive techniques performed, so a formal in-office consultation is often not necessary nor convenient for the Patients. The website provides most of the information needed for a patient to make an intelligent decision. After the patient is educated on Dr Loria’s Hair Restoration process, a Hair Transplant Treatment is scheduled by simply calling the office.

R

Patient Fees & Financing

At Loria Hair Restoration we pride ourselves on not only providing the state-of-the-art technologies and services to each and every Patient, but also provide reasonable fees. If you noticed, Dr Loria actually places his fees on the website, under the Fees Section. Why? Dr Loria believes in not only full disclosure, but wants to demonstrate open, honest, and a no pressure situation for the patients while making the decision. Many doctors will come in for a consultation and try to ‘pitch you’ or give you a ‘deal on the spot’ … this puts undue pressure on patients. Dr Loria does not use car salesman tactics… just open and upfront information for all patients to see. Regarding the fees, Dr Loria wanted to mention this here, again, because his desire is to reach most if not all Patients who desire this revolutionary technology, not just the wealthy.

R

Patient Arrival

The Patient is greeted with excitement upon arrival to the office. This enthusiasm is due to knowing that the patient will receive the best hair transplant available today… and the staff is thrilled and eager to provide such a great service for our patients.

R

Medical Forms

Medical paperwork will be filled out by the Patient before the formal treatment begins.
R

Patient Discussion

The highly trained and skilled Physician Assistant will review the medical forms, and then discuss the patient’s expectations, donor availability, and procedures needed to meet those expectations. Typically, the Staff would have reviewed some if not most of this information by the phone and video consultation prior, but it will be reviewed again upon patient arrival.
R

Hairline design

A detailed discussion will occur with the patient using Dr Loria’s UVW Hairline Design Method. This method was designed so patients can see that there are over 100 hairline variations that will looks great on each patient, so there is not just ‘one’ great hairline, there are many.
R

Recipient Area: General Area to be Grafted

After the Hairline has been determined, the other areas of concerned are discussed and marked out for placement of grafts.
R

Procedure Room:

The patient is then brought to a special treatment room that is designed to eliminate/minimize bacteria and particles in the air. The Air filtration used, called Ultra-Hepa Systems, is in place to protect the patient and the hair grafts from getting contaminated from airborne particles and airborne bacteria. Hepa filtration is rarely seen in a Hair Transplant Treatment Room, but this is standard at Loria Hair Restoration.
R

Patient Anesthesia & Comfort

We at Loria Hair Restoration are very sensitive to our patient’s comfort, so we take great care in providing a comfortable experience using mild sedation. The medications we give are taken by mouth (such as Valium for example), to relax and provide a great calming effect so the Patient can have an enjoyable and peaceful experience. The procedure uses only local anesthesia which is very safe for the patient. After anesthesia is completed the procedure begins.
R

Donor Harvesting:

Once Anesthesia has been completed, the donor area, where the follicular units (FU’s or Grafts) are located, will be harvested. Typically, a minimum of 1000 or even up to 3000 grafts can be done in one sitting. Please be aware that each FU has 1-4 hairs in it. Do not be ‘fooled’ by unscrupulous doctors who provide 1000 ‘hairs’ per treatment, for example. Always request the number of Follicular Units being provided, NOT hairs. In addition, make sure that the Follicular Units are NOT dissected into single hairs… this is not necessary, but with one exception…. The need for more hairline single hair FU’s. Another critical note is that the hairline consists of different hairs. These hairs are finer and are typically in 1-2 hair groupings. Dr Loria’s Staff is trained to harvest special thin hairs at the nape of the neck, a key feature and detail, to make the hairline look as natural as possible. This critical detail is often overlooked.
R

Photographic Documentation

Once the Donor Grafts have been harvested, photographs are taken to document how many donor sites were taken. Keep in mind that there is typically a 1-5% extra amount of donor sites made. For example, if 1000 grafts need to be taken, about 10-50 additional donor graft ‘voids’ or ‘microscopic holes’ will be seen. Why is this? Because when a follicular unit is harvested, it may not come out of the skin, due to it be ‘partially’ harvested, so it is left there in the skin to re-grow.
R

Graft Preservation

The key to graft placement is to understand that the hair follicles are sensitive living organs. Hair follicles are the smallest organs in the human body and need to be handled in a very delicate way. Dr Loria has trained his staff to perform a non-crush type method of hair follicle placement. This type of placement is uncommon in the field, and these high standards are universally implemented at all Loria Hair Restoration offices. In addition to not crushing the grafts upon placement into the recipient sites, the grafts are placed in a special solution and in a temperature-controlled environment. How do you know if your grafts are being crushed… if forceps are being used, then they will get crushed and possibly become damaged or even die. Ice packs are the ‘standard’ in most hair transplant offices to keep the grafts cool. This method is substandard and not acceptable. A monitored refrigerator is necessary and standard at Loria Hair Restoration to keep the grafts cool at specific temperatures. When the grafts are taken out of the refrigerator, they can then be temporarily placed and a special long-lasting ice pack until placement.
R

Graft Recipient Sites

This is when the balding areas receive a very tiny needle poke to form the recipient site. This needle poke forms a very tiny channel to ‘plant’ the follicular units or grafts. Now, what is most important is the special angle these sites need to be made in. Artistic detail must be at the forefront when making Recipient Sites.
R

Lunch Time!

Considering that it is a long day, the Loria Hair Restoration Staff provides lunch for all of our patients. This is a welcome break for the patient because having lunch makes the Patients feel energized, satisfied, and ready for Graft Placement.
R

Graft Placement

Grafts are placed with speed and accuracy into the Recipient sites using a non-crush technique which involves specialized instrumentation. Without this specialized instrumentation, graft trauma will occur, and many hairs will be damaged and potentially die
R

Photographic Documentation

Once the grafts are placed, photos or video will be taken to show our patients that the exact number of grafts taken out from the donor area have been placed into the recipient sites. At Loria Hair Restoration we take great pride in providing an accurate and precise count regarding donor grafts and placement. Our Patients can Trust that the donor grafts we take out is exactly what is placed back into the recipient areas of the scalp.
R

Prescriptions, Nutrition & Instructions:

Immediately after the Hair Transplant Procedure the Staff at Loria Hair Restoration will provide certain Prescriptions and Instructions for each Patient. The Goal is for Optimal Results, and now that the grafts have been placed in, we want to provide any additional nutritional and medical support to assist in great hair growth.
R

Post Procedure Care & Follow-Up:

The Patient is provided with a day by day 24-hour communication method with the Loria Hair Restoration Staff. In our day and time, the phone technology is a great help for this type of communication. We have our patients send weekly photos via Text Messaging for evaluation, and Patients can ask questions at any time. Our Staff is excited and happy to assist each Patient with any questions along healing and hair growth process.
